Life Skills Training
As an occupational therapist, I specialize in empowering individuals of all ages to achieve greater independence and quality of life through comprehensive life skills training. I am dedicated to helping you master essential skills necessary for daily living, fostering confidence and enhancing your ability to engage meaningfully in daily activities.
What is Life Skills Training?
Life skills training focuses on developing the practical abilities needed for everyday tasks and activities. We all have strengths and weaknesses in life, it is nothing to be ashamed of! If you or a loved one wants or needs to develop more skills in a certain area, I will assess your unique needs and goals and create personalized interventions that address areas such as:

-
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): training in essential tasks such as dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and feeding to promote independence and safety.
-
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs): teaching skills related to managing finances, meal preparation, housekeeping, shopping, medication management and more.
-
Community Integration: developing skills necessary for community participation, such as using public transportation, using an assistive device such as a wheelchair or walker in the community and accessing community resources.
-
Workplace Readiness: practice in skills necessary for successful job retention such as appropriate communication, time management, and task organization.
-
Social Skills: Developing conversational skills, reading body language, managing reactions and turn taking.

Who Chooses Us?
Our services can be a good match for folks during transition from hospital to home, school to work, home to living independently or any other life transition to help facilitate a smooth adjustment and successful integration. Often a family member reaches out to me because they recognize an area their loved one could use more supported practice with and they have identified that a third party would be a better fit to work on this skill. I involve family members and caregivers in the treatment process if wanted and provide education and training to support ongoing skill development and integration.
